Day two of racing only saw one race, started in light conditions but with a building breeze. I started in the middle of the line and lost my lane and tacked away, and then tacked again underneath an Aussie. That gave me some space, and I went left to a nice header. Sally Sharp and a Japanese guy crossed ahead, but I rounded third. I caught up a bit downwind, and was in second by the leeward mark. Sally stayed ahead till the last beat, but I rounded just behind her, and footed away pretty quickly.
It turned out that the finish line was a close reach away, and my footing took me directly to it. Sally didn't see the line at first and by the time she did, I was ahead. Nice race and a nice first... but, I was OCS. I really can't believe it, but there it is, in the standings. Not a bullet, but an OCS. Very tough to take, but I can say with confidence that I know I have the boat speed to beat these guys and, though I have to be careful, I know I can over come this. God's grace.
